About:Founder trustee of Arts Acre, Kolkata, and founder of Society of Contemporary artists, Assam. His work has influenced by his travels to tea gardens in the North eastern regions of India. Trained at the Indian College of Arts and Draftsmanship, he had joined eminent artist Shuvaprasanna’s College of Visual Art. He has continued to amaze all with his signature images of snorting wild boar, raging bull and perverse goat. His style is fluent and energetic. With maturity, his art has come to comment on humans as social creatures.
Shyam always idolized the primitive world where humans and other animals cohabited the forest. This was reflected in his paintings as much as his sculpture. He painted the softness of this interaction with as much skill as he painted the bold beauties of Kaziranga. The fierce mien of a wild boar he encountered near an abandoned coalmine enchanted not only Shyam but art lovers in Delhi, Mumbai and beyond the seas too.
